Yes, make sure you are matching the previous technology or upgrading where possible. Example, apply new epoxy pool paint over an existing epoxy pool paint. Apply an acrylic pool paint over an existing acrylic pool paint. When it comes to rubber-based coatings, we suggest upgrading from traditional chlorinated rubber paints to newer technology synthetic rubber pool paints.
Improper surface preparation is the number one cause of blistering and other performance issues. Unacceptable application conditions such as heat or cold can also contribute, always follow the proper curing schedule prior to filling the pool and follow local weather reports to ensure safe application windows.
If it’s a hairline crack, Hi Build Epoxy or HB31 Epoxy Pool Paint will fill it in. Larger jobs will require the use of a Ramuc PSL or Ramuc Epoxy Patching Compound.

Absolutely. It is a viable option to consider paint when your plaster finish has aged, roughened, and stained to the degree that you are considering having your pool re-plastered. Re-plastering a pool is extremely expensive and can be subject to "plaster pop-off". Painting provides a more economical alternative that transforms old plaster into a smooth, clean, and beautiful finish.
Three types of pools that may be painted are masonry, fiberglass, and metal construction. The most common type of pool construction is masonry. Any unpainted masonry pool may be painted with your choice of any of our pool coating. (Rubber, Epoxy, or Acrylic). Fiberglass pools we recommend coating with Ramuc Hi Build or HB31 Epoxy Pool Paints. Steel pools are becoming more common, they require priming with an appropriate metal primer prior to painting with epoxy pool paints.

There are many factors that go into the longevity of a pool coating. It depends on the product purchased, number of coats applied, strength of chlorination, chemical balance, exposure to direct sun, color selection, cleaning schedule, pool use, climate and other variables. The best choices for longevity in the Ramuc line are Hi Build and HB31 Epoxy Pool Paints. These products have the longest service life of up to 8 years before having to repaint.
